Insurance is confusing!

  • I am currently paneled/in-network with:

    • OHP

    • Regency BCBS

    • Cigna

    • LifeStance

    • PacificSource

If I am not paneled/in-network with your insurance, we can discuss SuperBills.

We understand the complexity of insurance billing and will verify your insurance coverage as a courtesy prior to our first session so there are no hidden surprises.

*Sports Performance & Life Skills Coaching are services not covered by insurance.*

  • If I do not take your insurance I can provide you with a SuperBill. If you have insurance, you can check to see if your insurance has Out-of-Network (OON) Benefits. Or you can go to the Insurance Verification page and have us courtesy check for you.

Cash Pay is always an option as well.

Patients are ultimately responsible for knowing their insurance benefits, and our verifications serve as a helpful aid.

  • A superbill is a detailed receipt with all the information of the services provided to you in order for insurance companies to create a healthcare claim.

As the client, you will submit superbills to your insurance companies to potentially get reimbursed for services you received. It is important to know, that any reimbursement provided by an insurance company goes directly to you, the client.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO OUT-OF-NETWORK BENEFITS

  • These are typically in the Summary of Benefits, included in a member information packet or on your insurance company website. Keep an eye out for these terms:

-Out-of-network deductible: This is the amount of money you have to pay before you are eligible for reimbursement.

-Coinsurance: This is the percentage of the service fee that you’re ultimately responsible for paying.

  • The best way to be absolutely sure of your benefits is to clarify with your insurance company member services line. You can find this phone number on the back of your insurance card or through your online insurance platform.

Ask these questions when speaking to your insurance company about benefits:

    • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health? (Outpatient means treatment outside a hospital.)

    • How much of my deductible has been met this year?

    • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?

    • What is the reimbursement rate for CPT Codes 90837?

    • Do I have a visit limit?

    • How do I submit claim forms/SuperBill for reimbursement? (Claims are forms that are sent to your insurance company to receive reimbursement for sessions you paid for out of pocket.)

    Information they may ask for:

    • NPI 1881345833

    • CPT code 90837

    • They may not, but if they ask for a diagnosis code, since I do not have a diagnosis for you yet, you can say F43.2 Adjustment Disorder.

I'd also double check that they still cover telehealth since I know some insurances are getting funny about covering telehealth services with the state of emergency lifted.

  • I will provide you a document called a Superbill that you send directly to your insurance company at the end of each month. The Superbill details how many sessions you’ve had, and the total fee you’ve paid.

  • Your insurance company will mail you a check to reimburse a portion of the service cost.

Important to note that you might not get the full amount that you paid reimbursed. Reimbursement rates for out-of-network providers is subject to your insurance company’s reimbursement policies

You can also use apps like Using an app like Reimbursify can help you navigate the reimbursement process in a few clicks.

Should I use my insurance or not?
